CHILDRENS PLAYGROUND

The playground is now established and we have had a successful opening event on Sunday 22nd September.

We have purchased three picnic benches made from recycled plastic and we are in the process of planning the placement of play equipment in the playground.

We have established a Playground Association to discuss matters pertaining to the playground and fund-raise towards it. If anyone wishes to contact the Playground Association email Secretary.BPAssoc@gmail.com

PRECEPT

As the precept was increased two years ago to cover the shortfall of funds from Darlington Borough Council and the major works that had to be undertaken on the village green, Bishopton Parish Council did not increase the precept for 2019-2020 and have decided not to increase the precept for the year 2020-2021. Residents should be aware that any increase in Council Tax is not as a result of the precept.

Concerns over road safety and COMMUNITY SPEEDWATCH

We are still concerned that many residents have complained about parked cars blocking access and cars parked with wheels on the pavement thus impeding foot traffic.

We also still have the more worrying aspect of motorists speeding through the parish.  To go some way towards combating this we now have three speed monitors set up on each of the three roads into and out of the village

We are establishing COMMUNITY SPEEDWATCH. This consists of local residents, willing to volunteer a small amount of time to monitor speeds with speed detection equipment and record registration numbers.  Training in the procedures and use of the equipment will be provided by the Police. Offending motorists will be written to by the Police and further action will be taken.

WOULD YOU CONSIDER BEING A SPEEDWATCH VOLUNTEER
