Minutes of January 2009 Parish Council Meeting

Wednesday 21st 7pm in the Village hall.

  2. Declaration of interest in items on the agenda
  3. There were no declarations of interest in items on the agenda

  4. Approval of previous minutes
  5. The minutes of the previous meeting were read, amended, agreed and signed by the Chairperson as a true record of the December 2008 meeting.

  6. Matters arising from previous minutes
    1. In response to Mr Sturrocks letter it was agreed to respond to ascertain a date of completion for the current works that are outstanding. It is also to be pointed out that the old pedestrian pathway needs digging up, old concrete removing, refilling and re-seeding. Mr. Sturrocks offer of a site meeting prior to the works starting was to be taken up to make sure that materials and specifications were adhered to.
    2. Traffic Survey
      1. Concern was once again expressed about the Parking in front of the public houses in the village
      2. It was suggested that a private consultant maybe engaged to look at the parking and speeding issues. Parish Clerk to approach Highways Dept, DBC for name of such person.
    3. New church gates - the PCC have decided not to go ahead with new gates. The offer by Bishopton Parish Council to have the old ones repainted still stands and any decisions will be finalised at the next meeting.
    4. Path outside The Barn - It was agreed that the Parish Council would write to the residents to establish whether they have any grounds for complaint as the path is breaking up already.

      DBC also to be approached to be establish when the routine spraying of the pathways is due.

      A specification for pathways/tarmac areas to be obtained so that it may be fully adopted at the next meeting.
    5. Members were advised that not all leaves had been dealt with by Streetscene in the last works. Chairperson to contact Streetscene to advise them of the situation.
    6. Erection of wooden stables - Cllr Wood declared a personal interest in this item. It was noted that the members had been advised that the stables were temporary shelter for the winter months. It was agreed that it would be appropriate to inform the owner that if the structure is to be there for any length of time it may well need planning permission. Parish Clerk to action.

    4. Parish Councillor letter of interest. (Parish Clerk to respond)
    5. Letter of suggestion regarding Christmas Carol evening and decorating central bus shelter
    6. Holocaust Memorial Ceremony invitation
    7. New waste disposal Arrangements - Cllr N. Wallis to be invited to the March meeting.
    8. Victim Support - request for funding.

  14. Village Hall rental, Sept to Dec 2008 - £30.00

    1. A local pensioner has requested logs if any left available
    2. More grass seed is needed so that the Village Green may be re-seeded where needed. It was agreed to purchase as necessary.
    3. It was agreed to enquire whether Simply Landscapes had any more of the reclaimed stone already purchased from them.

Next Meeting - 25 February, 2009 - 7:00pm

Addendum: The possibility of contacting local farmers to set aside fields for woodland was discussed and it was agreed that Cllr Bence would approach local land owners to establish whether anyone would be interested in the scheme.
