About Bishopton Village
The Parish of Bishopton lies between Darlington and Stockton and consists of around 350 residents.
The Village is essentially a rural farming community, although many of the inhabitants are not from this background. Bishopton is a thriving community that takes pride in its surroundings. There is a great sense of well being and friendliness throughout the village.
History
History tells us that Bishopton dates back to circa 1,100 AD and was originally owned by Roger De Conyers, it was this ancient Durham family that built the village's famous landmark, Castle Hill. Castle Hill and the surrounding earthworks are the remains of a 12th Century Motte and Bailey Castle.
